The General Manager will develop, implement, and run the operations of a growing engineering firm. They will lead and manage the business processes that will bring the company’s goals to reality.  They will direct engineering operations, finance, sales, and marketing through a team of functional managers. 

Responsibilities

General
Responsible for maximizing revenue, profit and growth for the business.  
Oversee all major operating functions of the business. 
Collaborate with the President, taking his visions, and translating those ideas into action.
Develop the strategic business plan, budget, and long-range vision.
Execute the business plan, achieving or exceeding planned P&L objectives.
Ensure that everyone is following and adhering to the company’s business processes. 
Has a relentless obsession with values alignment, focus, simplicity, and clarity.
Demonstrate project management skills.

Finance
Establish company budgets & KPIs, reviewing progress, and making mid-course corrections. 
Budget resources at the start of a project, then evaluate job costs & Budgeted vs Actual.
Review and approve preparation of accounting analysis for budgetary planning and implementation, and financial reporting.

Sales & Marketing
Oversee a small team of salespersons with varying levels of experience
Manage goals, quotas, and compensation structures of sales team.
Manage the process of quoting and proposals.
Manage marketing efforts
Improve company’s use of SalesForce and integrations with other software.

Management & Leadership 
Leads, manages, and holds the leadership team accountable for achieving agreed-upon commitments.
Resolves issues effectively—seeing real problems, being comfortable with conflict, calling out the problems, and solving the problems in a practical and healthy manner. Ensures the leadership team is healthy, functional, and cohesive.
Developing a climate for offering information and expressing differing opinions. 
Train, motivate, and manage performance to create a high-achieving team
Play a leadership role in implementing improvements in services: review operating results of the department, compare them to established objectives, and develop plans to ensure continuous improvement in all functions.  When necessary, take steps to ensure that appropriate measures are taken to correct unsatisfactory results.

Recruiting
Recruiting, interviewing, selecting, onboarding, coaching, counseling, and disciplining staff.

Safety
Develop safety plan, ensure training and adoption.

Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in business or engineering. An MBA is strongly preferred.
Experience managing an engineering and operations business
Demonstrated track record of recruiting, retaining, and promoting world class senior technical leaders and managers.  
Must be accomplished at targeting and achieving results, goal setting, prioritizing tasks, overcoming obstacles, establishing team standards and responsibilities, and creating a results-focused environment.
