Solar Site Originator

Location: Worcester, MA, United States
The Solar Site Originator is responsible for sourcing and contracting solar project sites. 

As part of the project development team, will work closely with the Developers to orient its search towards the most relevant areas according to solar standards. The Originator is responsible for:
Securing front line market intelligence, exploring new market segments, assessing their viability and communicating back on findings and recommendations to the broader organization  
Keeping abreast of the various governmental programs and incentives in the various States, of the electricity price, of the renewable energy credits value as well as of any local regulatory issues relevant to solar projects.
Attending chamber of commerce, industry group meetings, farmers and growers’ associations to seek out project opportunities.
Identifying large roof tops, parking lots and ground mount sites suitable for solar farms
Approaching site owners through cold calling, research, web services, in person visits, professional associations events and any other relevant means. 
Contacting key decision makers, notably in municipalities, hospitals, school districts and corporations
Conducting compelling sales presentations to site owners
Performing first due diligence steps on the sites. 
Assessing the site’s economical feasibility and preparing a presentation to trigger the project through internal development process.
Negotiating the site lease or purchase option with land owners and lawyers

BS Degree in economics, finance, business, engineering.
Minimum of 2+ years of successful experience in sales, business development, or energy project development.
Familiarity with real estate market or land option agreements
Passion for renewable energy
Experience with self-generating customer leads and pre-qualification

An outgoing and engaging nature, capable of connecting with clients and industry members in a wide range of professional settings
A deep intellectual curiosity about the effect of a wider business landscape; solid business instincts and a practical understanding of what drives markets based on economic principles
Superior listening, critical thinking, and writing skills, as well as memorable presentation skills

Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to perform market analysis
