Automation Sales Manager

Automation Sales Manager
This individual will be responsible for managing and developing customers in the assigned geography while achieving sales quota for the Systems and Service business. Prior experience in drive system/industrial automation field selling equipment for capital projects required.
  • Create, maintain and achieve regional sales plan objectives.
  • Recruitment, development and management of sales channels (reps, distributors, integrators)
  • Develop and maintain contact with key customers on an ongoing basis and develop major customer proposals and business activity.
  • Work with Marketing Team to execute marketing programs, staff trade shows and perform lead follow-up.
  • Communicate customer feedback/needs to R&D for new product developments.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work within field service and engineering teams.
  • Accomplish key major business objectives concerning new product and market specific programs.
  • Help define new product requirements for territory.
  • Maintain account information and proposals in CRM system.
  • Travel 75-80% within the assigned territory.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering preferred
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in the drive system/industrial automation field
  • Specific knowledge of AC/DC Drives and Motors, Web Tension Controls, Motion Controls and Encoders required
  • Experience selling in paper, mining, metals or crane markets preferred
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in Sales or Territory Management
  • Experience and proven success track record of managing channels (Reps and Distributors) preferred
  • Proven history of managing a multi-state territory is preferred
  • Knowledge of is a plus

  • Ability to solve complex technical problems
  • Excellent communication and inter-personal skills (verbal and non-verbal)
  • Very comfortable with customers at all levels of the organization and a customer advocate
