Regulatory Compliance Manager

Location: Boston, MA, United States
The Renewable Energy Regulatory Compliance Manager will be responsible for providing program oversight for assigned Power Generation solar photovoltaic (PV) technology and other renewable energy assets.  The ideal candidate will have considerable experience with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), and North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC). The successful candidate will interact with regulatory and compliance organizations to provide program compliance direction for managed assets to include the interpretation of new or revised regulatory requirements and/or initiatives.

  • Ensuring the company’s compliance with North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) and other regional reliability organization regulation programs
  • Maintain project NERC program infrastructure, including the administration and maintenance of compliance policies, programs, and procedures
  • Create NERC compliance programs for projects acquired or constructed that must registered as a NERC facility; track and monitor compliance efforts
  • Prepare for, coordinate, and support compliance audits conducted by internal resources, consultants, or regulatory organizations
  • Manage effective tracking system to ensure compliance with all reliability requirements, and ensure business continuity
  • Maintain corporate compliance policy
  • Prepare and submit periodic NERC submissions, including assembly of evidence that demonstrates compliance
  • Coordinate compliance self-certification and data submittal activities
  • Document and submit potential concerns to regulatory organizations and ensure they are tracked for timely resolution and fully documented in audit-able records
  • Maintain awareness of emerging industry issues through benchmarking and participation in appropriate utility forums/groups
  • Monitor, identify, and analyze changes and standards that may have a business impact on current or future power generation assets; communicating with affected subject matter experts and management to address the impact of changes on operations or business processes
  • Recommend and/or implement appropriate programs/initiatives
  • Provide leadership, ownership, and implementation of CIP standards implementation
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Previous work experience in the electric utility/renewable energy industry, demonstrating knowledge of regulatory compliance organizations impacting the power industry
  • Considerable knowledge of the NERC Reliability Standards, regional reliability organization delegated authority, and a good working knowledge of power generation operating practices
  • NERC certification is a plus
  • Demonstrates a strong understanding of the technical aspects of NERC and regional reliability organization regulations and policies as they will impact the company’s operations and compliance; familiarity with state and federal regulatory requirements
  • Possesses strong leadership and project management skills, to include the ability to successfully set priorities, and to manage projects from start to finish
  • Demonstrates excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills (including public speaking) with the ability to influence without authority
  • Strong analytical skills; skilled in assessing a variety of factors, analyzing complex data and performance measures
  • Demonstrates meticulous attention to detail, with exceptional organization, planning and decision-making skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain a high level of trust and confidence among peers and management, and to work independently
  • Ability to communicate effectively, and to translate legal/regulatory concepts for a variety of audiences
  • IT Security/Architecture experience is a plus
  • Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office Suite Word, Excel and PowerPoint software
