Project Development Attorney

Location: New York, NY, United States
The Project Development Attorney will support the Development, Operations, Finance, and Estimating Teams.  This candidate will proactively deal with any issues arising out of the development, financing and construction process. Matters will include contract drafting and negotiation; insurance and surety programs; liens; pre and postclaims; compliance; and a variety of other subjects. Work closely with senior management and internal business teams on a regular basis to assist in dealing with potential risks and legal issues.  Draft legal documents and correspondence including but not limited to large master agreements with customers, including numerous development related agreements, EPC agreements, PPAs, Leases, and other revenue contracts.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Finance
Juris Doctor. Member in good standing of the New York Bar
5 years of EPC power generation experience; ideally with solar projects.
Renewable energy experience in commercial and utility environment, with a demonstrated ability to draft, review, and negotiate various types of project contracts for renewable energy projects, including development, construction, and revenue contracts, to project transfer and financing.
Ability to proactively identify issues including, regulatory, tax, permitting, and environmental.
Experience with project development, project finance, federal income tax matters, with a strong emphasis on renewable energy investment, energy tax credits and government incentive programs
Transaction experience in representing power producers and investors in tax equity and leasing structures in the solar industries.
Exceptional communication and presentation skills, both written and oral.
Motivated and flexible self-starter with ability to work independently and in groups.
