Senior Software Engineer

Location: Missoula, MT, United States
The Senior Software Engineer will lead and manage the software team and be a leader in setting the overall control architecture for next gen design. The right candidate will have a strong background in developing software and firmware for custom embedded controls.  This person must have experience with equipment or devices utilizing multiple analog and digital inputs and preferably with capital equipment design and manufacturing.  In addition, the position requires the candidate to have experience or knowledge with remote interfaces and operation, and Web interface development. It is required to have a minimum of 6 years’ experience in a .NET language preferably C#.  Familiarity with Visual Studio and WCF is required.  This is a hands-on position with the need to develop and test software for equipment and requires the ability to install and operate equipment to prove functionality. Experience managing a software team in an Agile development environment is a plus. Close work with the team comprised of engineers, scientists, product management, and senior management will be required.  Level and compensation will be consistent with experience.  Preference will be given to candidates who have prior experience in energy storage technology and are demonstrated successful multi-taskers.
  • Hire, manage and develop the software team
  • Direct the software team to meet Engineering department goals and deliverables
  • Programming firmware and algorithm development
  • Programming to support remote interfaces and operation with 3rd party software
  • Programming to support Web interface development
  • Recruit and manage outside contract engineering resources as needed
  • Maintain existing software, fixing bugs and adding new features
  • Manage software revisions and documentation
  • Assist in troubleshooting performance issues for both hardware and software
  • Write requirements, specifications, test plans, and verification reports
  • Perform software tests per test plans
  • Support customer installations during commissioning and ongoing operation
  • Work on a distributed team and provide clear written and verbal communication
  • Create patent and other intellectual property disclosures
  • Contribute to Next-Gen product team's design effort
  • BS in Computer Science with minimum of 8 years’ experience
  • Minimum of 6 years’ experience in a .NET language, preferably C#
  • Must be familiar with Visual Studio and WCF
  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience with firmware programming and algorithm development
  • Experience with database management system controls
  • Experience with software engineering development methodologies
  • Experience working for a manufacturing company
  • Experience managing a team of software developers
  • Familiar with Asp .Net MVC
  • Familiar with REST architecture and its application in Web services
  • User interface development in C# or other .NET language
  • Familiar with protocol development including Http, TCP using WCF, and Modbus
