Senior Solar Project Manager

Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada
The Solar Project Manager will take ownership of C&I and Utility scale solar projects in the US and Canada. This position requires a through understanding of solar construction and project budgeting. 

  • Manage clients in Canada and US using internal resources in engineering, procurement and construction through projects’ life cycle
  • Manage and provide monthly updates on project metrics: safety, quality, timing (master GANTT chart, critical path tracking, critical issues requiring management inputs/support), costing (actual spent vs. budgeted, project cash flows) and customer satisfaction according to the terms and conditions of the respective customer contracts.
  • Responsible for running weekly internal meetings with functional teams including updates of schedules, completion status, open issues lists and drive project completion within budget, timeline and quality expectations.
  • Anticipate any cost overruns to suggest (if approval is necessary) recovery plans to be put in place to alleviate.
  • Escalate potential loss in profitability from budgeted margins and manage early enough to provide guidance or support.
  • Develop and manage contracts for self-hired trades and subcontractors
  • Visit construction sites as required but at least biweekly to coordinate activities and ensure all materials and engineering deliverables are on site and accurate .
  • Work with accounting and finance to ensure project-specific payables, receivables and consolidated statements are managed weekly and in accordance with respective contracts.
  • Report daily or weekly, as required, to clients and to management with internal resources including technical managers, engineers and construction/site managers to ensure all project deliverables are well tracked.
  • Advise customers and potential clients on technical or engineering issues/changes affecting project deliverables from a civil, mechanical or electrical standpoint.
  • Coordinate acute management of change orders with internal resources and clients
  • Maintain strong relationship with existing clients to seek and ensure repeat business
  • Support Business Development activities in the market promoting and selling EPC, Project co-Development, Financing, etc. services through trade shows, market research, networking, sales pitches, preparation of proposals, sales & technical presentations, etc.
  • Help prepare costing/estimating and cash flow projections for existing accounts in EPC Services and new accounts on special requests
  • Use and maintain systematically CRM application for existing customer and lead management 
  • Leverage experience and network in solar PV North American industry
  • Advocate core business values and principles to clients, suppliers and stakeholders
  • Display ethical and professional business behaviors and ensure company intellectual property/confidential information are protected at all times
  • 5 years' experience in Solar Project Management
  • Ability to travel in the US and Canada as needed
  • Bachelor's degree in business or Engineering or related field
