Project Engineering Manager

Location: Boston, MA, United States
The Project Engineering Manager will oversee large-scale solar energy projects, perform detailed site assessments, prepare and negotiate project contracts, manage project permitting (including environmental permitting), interconnection, construction and commissioning. The Manager will also provide technical and commercial support during the project development, acquisition and financing process.

Job Duties:
  • Perform site assessments. Evaluate viability, shading, capacity and production, and assess electrical interconnection options and strategies. Evaluate project opportunities and risks.
  • Prepare detailed requests for proposal (RFPs) and run RFP bid processes. Prepare, negotiate and manage key design, procurement and construction contracts. Prepare, negotiate and manage key Operations and Maintenance (O&M) contracts.
  • Review and evaluate electrical, mechanical, civil and structural designs, reports, calculations and surveys.
  • Review and evaluate environmental and land-use permits, surveys and reports
  • Prepare and manage project budgets and schedules. Provide concise summary reports and status updates to the management team and board members
  • Chair project meetings. Conduct site inspections.
  • Conduct site O&M inspections during operation. Troubleshoot and coordinate unplanned replacement and repair work
  • Oversee and perform project inspections and system tests. Ensure compliance with engineering specifications and performance objectives

Experience Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s or higher degree in an engineering discipline, preferably electrical or mechanical
  • Minimum five years’ relevant project management experience, with at least three years of large-scale solar PV experience
  • Budget responsibility of at least $10MM
  • Detailed understanding of three phase electrical systems and the National Electrical Code
  • Experience with medium voltage electrical systems and equipment
  • Experience handling environmental and land-use permits, restrictions and regulations
  • Writing and negotiating engineering, procurement and construction contracts
  • Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint and Project. AutoCAD experience is a plus
  • NABCEP or similar certification is a plus
