Solar Project Developer

Los Angeles, CA
The Project Developer will develop a utility scale solar project portfolio across the United States through site identification, zoning, permitting and negotiating transactional documents. They will also focus on leading development by building relationships with landowners, community leaders, utilities and environmental organizations.

Responsibilities: 
  • Manage development activities of solar energy projects from feasibility to the start of construction
  • Identify and evaluate suitable sites, structure and negotiate commercial transactions with landowners
  • Manage the zoning, permitting, land rights entitlements and compliance processes
  • Engage with landowners, community leaders and environmental organizations to provide information throughout the development process
  • Select, manage, and direct third party consultants and development partners
  • Develop target scope of work and ensure projects are progressing on schedule and within budget
  • Develop viable and economically sustainable new and existing solar projects
  • Remain ahead of renewable energy opportunities in the United States and the national industry trends impacting the future of solar and renewable development opportunities 

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree with a strong academic record in Engineering, Business Administration, or Economics preferred
  • 2-3 years of project development related experience preferably in solar, renewable energy, or real estate development
  • Solid understanding of utility-scale solar project development, real estate transaction and permitting process
  • Skilled in project management with the ability to identify and resolve potential project flaws and to prioritize critical path tasks
  • General understanding of renewable energy market trends and the resulting impacts on solar project development
  • Self-motivated and able to work effectively individually as well as with a team
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to think on their feet
  • Strong analytical skills and outgoing customer focus
  • Ability to thrive in a quickly changing environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Excellent communication, time management, project planning and execution skills required
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, with emphasis on Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel
