The Solar Site Originator works as part of the project development team and is responsible for sourcing and contracting solar project sites. Working closely with the Developers to search for the most relevant areas according to solar standards. The Solar Site Originator is responsible for securing front line market intelligence, exploring new market segments, assessing their viability and communicating back on findings and recommendations to the broader organization. You will be responsible for understanding the various governmental programs and incentives in the various States, electricity prices, renewable energy credits value, and local regulatory issues relevant to solar projects. You will attend chamber of commerce, industry group meetings, farmers and growers’ associations to seek out project opportunities and identifying large roof tops, parking lots and ground mount sites suitable for solar.
The Site Originator will approach site owners through cold calling, research, web services, in person visits, professional associations events and any other relevant means as well as contact key decision makers in municipalities, hospitals, school districts and corporations. You will conduct sales presentations to site owners after performing first due diligence steps on the sites and assessing the site’s economical feasibility while preparing a presentation to trigger the project through internal development process.
Additionally you will be responsible for negotiating site lease or purchase options with land owners and lawyers, following-up on contracts when requested by business development, on the site’s validation post securization and complete administrative follow-up.
- Ability to travel frequently to visit customers and partners.
- Minimum of 2 years of successful experience in sales, spearheading the negotiation of the contract terms up to the deal conclusion.
