The Director, Project management is a critical team member responsible for leading and coordinating the technical project development and definition including conceptual designs, scopes of work, schedules, and estimates for power generation and energy storage projects through contracting with major equipment suppliers and EPC contractors. You will provide technical support to the Origination and Development team with the pursuit of new projects and opportunities and the renewal of existing facility contracts.
You will provide technical leadership and coordination of the project development process, supporting the Origination and Development Organization in the early phases and collaborate with Environmental, Health & Safety, Land, Strategic Procurement, Legal, Internal & External Engineering, Outage Services, Asset Management, Project Controls, Financial Planning & Analysis, Accounting, Construction, Document Control, and Plant Operations and Maintenance Staff, as well as make decisions typically related to the technical direction and selection of the best technologies for each project, utilizing input from internal and external resources.
As Director of Project Management you will have significant impact on costs and achievement of project objectives, optimize project design to deliver low operating cost with high reliability, apply advanced technical knowledge of multiple functions to solve complex problems which may have long-term impact on new projects and existing facilities, and be familiar and/or experienced with all aspects of the power generation industry, including the design and construction of new facilities to operation and maintenance of existing facilities, integrating this knowledge into the development of new projects.
The ideal candidate will have the ability to evaluate major equipment and EPC contractor proposals to determine the best evaluated bid in regards to technical design and performance, total installed cost, and ability to deliver, manage multiple project development activities on multiple projects simultaneously, and provides technical direction to the Origination and Development Organization.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, preferred electrical engineering degree, PE license and advanced technical or business degree a bonus.
- Previous design experience of conventional and/or renewable power generation projects, and energy storage projects.
- Requires a minimum of 15+ years of related experience in the power generation or cogeneration industry, with 5+ years of design or development experience.
