The Director of Engineering will manage the Engineering Team which is responsible for all engineering efforts related to the design, documentation, and commissioning of projects for both new construction and existing buildings. You will be responsible for developing team culture, work methodologies, engineering and installation standards, as well as standardizing drawing formats and documentation practices along with day to day management of the team. As Director of Engineering will design both consulting and construction projects to all applicable industry standards, with focus on NEC compliance and building codes. You will also assist in technical aspects of working with executive management/sales as well as interacting directly with customer and general contractors.
You will have experience in the PV industry including knowledge of Industry best practices while managing and supervising Project Engineers and CAD Technicians. You will manage the daily activities of the engineering team, implement team culture focused on quality, efficiency, professional development and collaboration, develop and maintain engineering documentation standards and processes, review and approve engineering deliverables, troubleshoot engineering and technical issues as they arise, and train and develop skill sets of engineering staff.
Additionally you will coordinate and provide engineering support for other departments, conduct direct project engineering tasks where necessary, determine equipment and technical standards in conjunction with the technical lead, develop and maintain a professional knowledge of new or emerging trends in PV, energy storage, and power resiliency, and manage deliverable workflows and timelines to ensure that project schedules and deadlines are met.
- Proficiency with CAD, Helioscope, PVsystem, Google – additional software as needed.
- BS Engineering (MS Preferred), Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related field
- 2+ previous years of engineering management experience in PV, Solar
- 5+ years of engineering experience in PV, Solar Construction/Architecture industry
- Strong project management and organizational skills
- Expert computer applications skills (Excel, Word, Visio, and PP)
