This candidate will be responsible for the strategic initiative in growing electrical engineering services with focused business development, and daily operational management of the group. The primary function of this role is to provide quality professional electrical engineering services to existing clients, as well as proactively expand our services to potential clients in our target markets. The Group Manager will provide strong leadership to the firm and will be a key collaborative partner internally.
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering. Master’s degree in Engineering or Management preferred.
Professional Engineering License, and ability to become Licensed in additional states as required.
15+ years of experience in Electrical Engineering (Renewable Energy preferred) with recent focus on business development for a consulting engineering firm.
Deep experience with BD and growing client relationship.
A minimum of 30% Travel for growing client relationships is expected.
Ownership of electrical services business development efforts and collaborative cross selling with our civil, environmental, and geomatics team.
Actively participates in the development and implementation of the firm’s strategic plan.
Develops and implements strategies to expand existing market penetration and enter new markets.
Oversees the firm’s business development efforts and tracks progress of those efforts as they relate to the annual business plans.
Responsible for meeting goals annually, continually growing client base and improving client relationships.
Provide professional oversight of electrical project managers, engineers, and technicians.
Experience in account management and maintaining long-term client relationships.
Conducts career development reviews and learning and growth opportunities of direct report staff.
Oversees group staffing levels and manages project plan resource reporting.
Serves as the senior technical expert focused on electrical energy and renewable energy.
Provide QA/QC on designs and reports for electrical collection systems, substation, and power generation mainly focused on renewable energy.
Stays updated on code changes, industry trends and technical tools that can be utilized.
Demonstrated ability to design and administer multiple projects of varying size and scope simultaneously through all design and construction phases.
Proficient with Microsoft Outlook applications as well as other computer-based engineering tools.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced engineering environment.
Excellent communication skills (writing, verbal, and graphic) and ability to clearly communicate how a given task or deliverable relates to the larger goals for the department and the firm.
