Solar Project Developer

Job Description:
The Project Development Manager will be responsible for the effective evaluation, planning and development of potential UK subsidy free solar projects likely to be 30MW-50MW, but possibly some smaller additional projects of maybe 5MW-10MW. They will lead on site acquisition based on grid analysis, carrying out commercial, legal and technical due diligences for specific projects, managing landowners, lawyers, community engagement, EPC and technical designs, as well as managing and liaising with planning-related service providers, grid operators, electric utilities, communities and other involved stakeholders in the UK.
  • Developing UK subsidy free solar projects mostly likely to be 30MW-50MW, possibly with some additional smaller projects, for example; community solar projects of maybe 5MW-10MW
  • Grid analysis and regular meetings with DNOs
  • Site acquisition based on grid analysis; occasionally with intro agents but often in-house
  • Understanding and updating the model for new sites / areas to work out each project is economic
  • Rough calculation of contestable grid costs followed by an accurate calculation or quote if a site may be marginal
  • Managing landowners, their agents and lawyers
  • Managing lawyers and leading the negotiations for Heads and main option agreement
  • Managing planning specialist and planning manager
  • Managing community engagement with external specialist  including visiting key site neighbours for early relationship
  • Managing EPC and technical designs including high level equipment selection supported by the team
  • Managing and liaising with planning-related service providers, grid operators, electric utilities, communities and other involved stakeholders in the UK
  • Possible analysis of new overseas markets
  • Possible management of local team / JV partner in overseas developments
