The Vice President of Renewable Energy Project Development will manage all aspects of development of wind, solar, and other renewable energy power-generation projects, including green-field development, manage environmental studies, permitting/transmission/interconnection, negotiation of power purchase agreements, and project financing. The VP will have full P&L for the territory, and be responsible for day-to-day aspects of the project development process, including site prospecting and construction. He/She will also manage, provides strategic direction, set development goals, and build a staff within the northeast territory. Directly participate in policy discussions happening in state legislative bodies, public utility commissions, FERC, and participates in advocacy activities to promote policies favorable to company and industry positions. Will be expected to maintain development responsibilities on multiple projects simultaneously with minimal oversight. Ensure that projects are developed in a manner that minimizes risk and will past financier’s due-diligence process. Act as lead negotiator of power purchase agreements, asset purchase agreements, and sale agreements, and work closely with legal counsel on drafting legal documents.
BS degree required, MBA/MS preferred
15+ years of successful power generation project development experience with a minimum of 5 years of utility-scale solar or wind project experience.
Thorough understanding of of the MISO, PJM, NYISO, and NEISO transmission systems and the renewable markets within these footprints.
Successful business development history and ability to achieve objectives, financial targets, and delivering projects on-time and under budget.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and negotiation skills.
Ability to travel 30%-50% of the time
