Business Development Manager, Energy Storage

The Business Development Manager will be tasked with growing the Commercial (C&I) Energy Storage Business in the US.  As a member Business Development Team, this individual will work closely with several other channels in the commercial, industrial, governmental and other public sectors. The successful candidate will independently identify, assess, architect, and close energy storage projects paired with commercial solar solutions.

RESPONSIBILITIES include working with the commercial solar sales team in the northeastern US and identifying and analyzing the value proposition and deal structure for complex storage projects including resiliency, DC coupled storage and front of meter connected storage in the northeast. The Manager will assess strategic sales and channel partner strategies for growth, engage with senior-level management and sales channel leaders to develop measurable strategic initiatives. They will meet with customers, potential partners, and strategic service providers, develop presentations and engage with market participants, industry groups, and regulators to understand industry thinking and trends. In addition they will track financial info and report on strategy and business development efforts, regional performance, and business planning results.

REQUIREMENTS

  • B.S. degree and 6+ years related experience OR an equivalent combination of education and years of related experience

  • Relevant experience within distributed energy generation, energy management, solar sales, energy regulatory, or similar industries

  • Understanding of northeastern distributed energy market dynamics, including emerging incentive programs, local tariff structures and ISO rules and procedures governing participation of distributed energy resources.

  • Experience/ability to independently, directly engage clients and close deals is required

  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) is required

  • Experience managing project teams, both directly and through matrix organizations

  • Ability to incorporates business strategy into key deliverables

  • Must be willing to travel domestically

  • Preference will be given to candidates that possess technical backgrounds and have experience with energy storage or experience within utility or ISO markets.
