Senior Interconnection Manager

As Senior Interconnection Manager will help shape the interconnection strategy and manage the interconnection process for utility-scale solar energy and energy storage system projects
across the United States. You will lead the assessment of transmission-related matters including project viability, tariffs and the overall interconnection process, manage consultants and other
stakeholders as needed to execute the development strategy, and support the development team in their efforts to locate new sites in various regions. You will also assist in strategic planning related to transmission related opportunities and risks, assist in the evaluation of transmission interconnection (e.g., deliverability, congestion, etc.), and potential interconnection costs in support of project development, as well as perform in-house technical studies of the transmission grid utilizing engineering software such as PSS/E, PSS-MUST, ASPEN, etc.

Additionally you will manage daily interconnection study activities for projects under development, as is required to meet tariff timelines, including the collection and distribution of T&D technical 
information required by various Utilities; including but not limited to Transmission Providers, Transmission Owners, Affected System Owners, and Independent System Operators, coordinate the development of necessary modeling data with subcontractors for generation interconnection technical studies for submission to Utilities, review interconnection study results, technical reports, and lead results meetings with the ISO/RTO and TSPs, and review and negotiate generation interconnection agreements, submit comments to Utilities.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering with emphasis on Electric Power Systems.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience managing the interconnection process for utility scale renewable energy generation projects
  • Experience with transmission system planning and grid operational matters.
  • Prior transmission planning experience with an ISO/RTO or large utility is a plus
  • Must understand power flow modeling and study results
  • Working knowledge of generation interconnection/transmission tariffs, interconnection agreements and requirements in one or more key regions (PJM, ERCOT, MISO, NYISO, CAISO , SPP, etc.)
  • Ability to establish strong working relationships with TSPs, ISOs/RTOs and other stakeholders
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to communicate complex technical matters verbally and in written format
  • Knowledge of MV/HV electrical construction and inverter manufacturers and operating capabilities strongly desired
  • Strong project management, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
  • Self-motivated and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient with essential tools including MS Office Suite, Smartsheets, Energy Acuity, Velocity Suite, WoodMac, etc.
