As Solar Electrical Engineer you will serve as the electrical engineering subject matter expert and advocate for company interests with external stakeholders such as code officials and utilities, engineer and design commercial and utility-scale, ground and roof-mounted solar photovoltaic (PV) systems and energy storage systems, and generate designs for approval by each project stakeholders, bid sets for contractors, IFP sets for AHJs and IFC sets for construction.
Additionally you will create and submit interconnection applications to utilities. Review screens, feasibility studies and impact studies, conduct cost-benefit analyses on proposed interconnection
upgrades and alternative solutions, select appropriate system hardware, optimize systems, and determine power generation and interconnection requirements for projects, perform electrical calculations and studies such as short circuit, coordination studies, load flow calculations, and voltage drop, and create, update and maintain project commissioning and acceptance checklists; review and
approve commissioning test reports from contractors.
You will also review and respond to contractor RFIs and submittals and work with independent engineers to generate project-level reliability and bankability reports for products/technology used, energy estimates and exceedance probabilities.
- B.S. in Electrical Engineering
- PE registration with NCEES record for reciprocity (will be required to stamp designs)
- 7-10 years’ experience with electrical design and similar job duties
- 4+ years’ experience designing commercial solar PV systems (10+ projects >500kW each)
