Power Systems Engineer

As Power Systems Engineer you will be responsible for design and implement complex control systems for industrial, commercial, and residential electrical systems, including renewable energy resources, contributing to complex control design to optimize performance and implementation, and designing simulated environments that model customers’ requirements to sufficient detail to analyze control performance. 

Your work will be Linux-based leveraging third-party and open-source code where appropriate, and you will ensure that installation and operations conform to standards and customer requirements by preparing electrical systems specifications, technical drawings and other relevant documents while directing or coordinating installation, manufacturing, construction, maintenance, documentation, support or testing activities. You will be responsible for writing reports and compiling data regarding existing and potential electrical engineering projects and studies, conferring with customers, engineers, and others to discuss existing or potential engineering products or projects, estimating material, labor, or construction costs for budget preparation, supervising or training project team members, and working with a variety of technicians and software engineers

Requirements
  • Extensive experience as an electrical/power systems/controls engineer
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an accredited school
  • Experience implementing software-based real time control systems
  • Experience in Python software programming
  • Knowledge of applicable codes related to electrical engineering
  • Knowledge of utility power networks 
  • Familiarity with dispatch algorithms
  • Ability to provide technical leadership
  • Master's degree in Power Systems or Computer Science
  • Licensed as a professional engineer
  • Familiarity with intelligent AI based systems 
  • Familiarity with controls renewable energy and/or energy storage systems
  • Familiarity with modeling and simulation software such as Matlab/Simulink
  • Familiarity with Utility systems such as, SCADA, DERMS, ADMS
  • Familiarity with cloud-based forecasters and propagators
  • Familiarity with adaptive systems
